We are taking in new members for the autumn 2018. Send mail to ari.huotari(at)hel.fi if you are interested!
GameDev-club is a hobby for 15-25 years old youth who are interested about making games. Club gathers at game center Score (Oulunkylä youth house), address is Kylänvanhimmantie 25 H (right next to the Oulunkylä commuter train station). Autumn start is on 5th September. Club is held weekly on Wednesdays at 18.00 – 20.30 (calendar). We speak both Finnish and English in the club.
When you make a game in the GameDev-club, you can be for example a level designer, a programmer, an artist or a sound designer. In addition to digital games, you can also choose to make board games or card games. Remember that it takes time and dedication to make great games, so you need to learn the basics and the simple stuff first and then advance step by step – no one is an expert in the start!
Club is organised by professional game developers and a youth worker. You don’t need any earlier experience, although computer skills and knowledge of games come handy. The most important thing is that you have motivation to this hobby! At the GameDev-club you will learn basics and more about game development in a supportive environment. Most games are made in small groups, so in addition to learning the technical skills, you will get to know other people who share the same passion!
